Swarms of low riders flow like ooze into Downtown San Jose’s streets. The feeling in the air is not a joyous celebration. It is more of a chance for ghetto thugs and losers to tromp around making the area even less attractive to anyone looking to enjoy the night, visiting restaurants and local bars meanwhile contributing to our local economy.

To top if off, the additional police presence needed to maintain this chaotic cruising circus actually costs the city more money than it is worth. Not to mention the difficulty it creates for downtown locals to get home at night. I personally do not feel the inconvenience is worth all the hustle and bussel. Nor does this holiday reflect positively on San Jose’s status as a happening place where people want to come have a good time.

Look at Santana Row. What is it about Downtown San Jose that compells these not so attractive groups to flood our streets, litter, create chaos and late night screaming and yelling like a pack of rabbid dogs?

What’s your take San Jose? Do you support the ethnic conglomerate that is Silicon Valley and do you feel the Cinco De Mayo festivities are a good representation of the heart of Silicon Valley? What happened to an upscale technology driven community of people and businesses?
